What it actually is

An FPV flythrough is a single continuous flight that travels through a space rather than circling above it. The drone moves through door openings, down stairwells, between structures and out over the roofline without a cut. Because the camera never stops, the viewer keeps a continuous sense of scale and layout that a static aerial or a set of stills cannot give them.

Who it is for

Developers launching a scheme, main contractors marking a milestone, agents selling a completed building, and architects who want their work understood rather than just photographed. It works hardest where the shape of a building is the story, which is most schemes.

What you get

A graded, sound designed film cut to the length you need, delivered in every format you will actually use: a full length version, a square and vertical cut for social, and a silent loop for a screen in a marketing suite or on the hoarding. A first cut usually lands within 24 hours of the shoot.

How we work on a live site

We plan the flight around your programme rather than the other way round. We work to your RAMS, complete your induction, arrive in the right PPE and send our certificates and risk assessments over before the day so your site team has everything on file.

Site visits start from £350 plus VAT.

Site visits start from £350 plus VAT. Photography, FPV drone flythroughs and interviews can be added to any visit, so one trip to site can cover more than one job. Tell us the scheme, the stage it is at and the dates, and a written quote comes back within a day.

FAQ

Questions.

What developers, contractors and architects ask us about FPV drone flythroughs.

(001)

Can you fly an FPV drone on an active construction site?

+
Yes. We work on live sites regularly. Alex holds both an A2 Certificate of Competency and a General VLOS Certificate, so we can fly under whichever permission the site calls for, and we carry 5 million pounds of public liability insurance. We work to your RAMS and complete site inductions like any other visiting contractor, and the certificates go over to your site team before the day.
(002)

How long does an FPV flythrough take to shoot?

+
Most flythroughs are a half day on site. A larger scheme, or one where we are also capturing ground level and stills, is usually a full day. We plan the route in advance so the flying itself takes far less time than the setting up.
(003)

How long should the finished film be?

+
Between 30 and 90 seconds for most schemes. Long enough to show the whole building, short enough that people watch it to the end and share it. We also cut shorter vertical versions for social from the same flight.
(004)

What is the difference between an FPV flythrough and normal drone footage?

+
Standard drone work is filmed from a distance, usually orbiting or rising above a site. An FPV drone is small, fast and flown manually, so it can fly through the building itself, in through an opening and out the other side, in one continuous move. It is a completely different feel and it is far harder to fly.
(005)

How much does construction video cost?

+
Site visits start from £350 plus VAT. What moves the price from there is the size of the site, how long we need on it, how many services you want on the same visit and how much editing the finished films need. Photography, FPV drone flythroughs and interviews can all be added to a visit rather than booked as separate days, which is why regular clients get more for the same money. Send over the scheme and the dates and you will have a written quote back within a day.
